COLOMBIA II

The Bush Administration has requested $98 million in new Pentagon training and equipment for the Colombian military during FY 2003. This marks the first major wrong step in a much wider initiative to move U.S. involvement in Colombia way far beyond counter-narcotics, (which is a miserable failure), assistance to the counter-insurgency and economic arenas.

This new, expensive, and more expansive mission is as usual about oil and money. I really believe Bush and his powerful and filthy oil barons worship only profit! Occidental Petroleum, which has strong ties to both of our corrupt political parties has persuaded Bush to murder thousands more innocent civilians in Colombia to protect their god; the almighty oil pipeline. This is not about democracy or freedom or a “war on drugs”, as President Bush and several members of Congress twist to fit their immoral vision for only the rich and ignorant people of the USA.

This Bush insane proposal will put millions of more taxpayer dollars into the hands of a very brutal, murderous, and immoral Colombian military. This crazy escalation in violence in Colombia is a war being waged against the poor, just as in the great USA, where millions of middle-class Americans join the ranks of the ever widening class of poor everyday.

If President Bush truly cared about human life, he would end all the military violence that we continue to pay with our “blood money”. We are guilty collectively as a people and a nation, especially if we don’t do anything as individuals, who claim to follow God’s word of love, to rise up and demand an end to the billions of U.S. dollars being spent in Colombia to kill people for the sake of oil. Loudly and actively tell the Washington Beltway of Corruption, (WBC), that the buck stops with us, as Harry S. Truman once stated. Our immoral politicians need to end all these “so-called” just wars. No war is ever just, if you murder and destroy life! Stop running to church, temple or mosque, if for one moment you believe that killing any of God’s precious creations is justified.

Say, with the authority of God, to Bush and Congress; NO MORE WAR!!! Say NO to any violence or any materialism which some immoral people would deem more important than human life. The “war on drugs”, the “war on terrorism”, the “war on poverty”, and the “war on education”, are all jokes, are failures that only hurt the poor and most vulnerable in our society. Anything, with the word war in it is most definitely immoral, undemocratic, and destroys any possibility of true freedom around the world. Stop allowing yourself to be manipulated by corporations, media, and our government.

End all the immoral wars!
