WAL-MART!!!

“What gives power its charge, positive or negative, is the quality of relationships.  Those who relate through coercion, or from a total disregard for the other person, create negative energy.  Those who are open to others and see others in their fullness create positive energy.  Love in organizations and business corporations, then, is the most potent source of power we have available to us in society”,    Margaret J. Wheatley

According to most faiths from Christianity to Judaism to Islam, and many others, there is a common thread amongst them all, and that is that “WORK IS HOLY”.  All people should work that are capable to work, but that work must not just be for wages, or profits for a corporation, it must be viewed upon as a connection to all the world’s people, for the common good of all, not just to pay a mortgage or for a shareholder to get wealthy off the labors of others.  From the foundation of our country, the USA, many of our ancestors from Europe, Africa, Mexico and Asia brought with them a sense of pride in work, with the exception of  IMMORAL SLAVERY AND NOW DISRESPECTFUL AND PATHETIC, IMMORAL LOW WAGES FOR MOST WORKERS AROUND THE WORLD.  People within multi-mega corporations have forgotten the golden rule; “Treat others as you would want to be treated!!!  From the Hispanic migrant workers in Immokalee, Florida, California and Texas, to the horrid sweat-shops in China that produce most of Americans clothing, to the non-livable wages created by Wal-Mart, “WORK IS NO LONGER HOLY” !!!  Work has become evil;  it is rapidly returning to the days of serfdoms and economic slavery held over the masses of people’s heads for the sheer delight of only 10% of the wealthiest people in the world.  It has become idolatry and high treason against God’s people.

Work is supposed to be a participation in God’s work of creation.  When work is reduced down to its lowest denominator – profit for the sake of all humanity, we all lose in the end.  If people are suffering and barely surviving in China, Bangladesh and India, which is the truth and you, know this as a fact, then how can you live with your conscience?  We are directly taking away their quality of life, so you can have cheap clothes from Wal-Mart.  If you believe in God or a Supreme Being, and you violate God’s call for work to be holy, for all creation to be treated equally and fairly with livable wages and human decency and respect for all human beings, then you are violating His Commandments.  You do not care about your fellow brothers and sisters in God.  It means you have so little genuine love for all God’s creation, especially His children, which in turn is hatred, if not love.  True love motivates one to help, honor, respect, and care about all God’s children whether they are in China, Iraq, Africa, South America or right down the street from you, and your co-workers, family and friends.  You have become a worshipper to materialism and consumerism, and really do not honor God, nor love Him.  Once again, true love motivates believers in God to love all their neighbors, not just the ones you decide to love.  You really have missed the boat my fellow Christian believers, because to love God is messy work, but holy work.  When you say you love God, then you must become involved in holy work to structurally and socially find justice for all.  We cannot rest until all God’s children are taken care of, not just our biological children, all of God’s children.  You hypocrites, as Christ said to the so-called holy Jews of His time, I say to you now, you can NOT wear the Christian label, unless you truly attempt to love and care for all of God’s children throughout the world!!!

Several years ago, Fortune magazine asked scores of managers, supervisors and CEOs what were the main reasons they worked.  The overwhelming response was to pay their mortgage, but take a gander at the following answers.  Most of them truly want to make the world a better place, to help themselves and others to grow spiritually, and to perfect their technical skills.  What is surprising to pinpoint is the crucial need for harmony and justice in human work: to serve the common good and one’s own need to grow in spirit and skill.  Fortune magazine must have failed at asking the Walton Family heirs to the mega-monster retailer Wal-Mart, because Wal-Mart does NOT practice or participate in the common good of humanity, only the common good of themselves.  Shame on you – Wal-Mart.

Robert K. Greenleaf, who worked for AT&T for thirty-five years retiring as Director of Management Research had the following to say about the business world.  “Do those served in and for the business grow as persons; do they become healthier, wiser, freer, more autonomous, more likely themselves to help the common good?  And, what is the effect on the least privileged in society; will they benefit, or at least, not be further disgraced and deprived?  Greenleaf said this was the maxim test for the entire business world.  This is what was expected of corporations to live up to in their mission and practice for work to remain holy.  Do all the people working for the company or the people that do business with that same company grow as persons; become better people that would want to serve the common good of humanity?  Most of all, in the process of doing business do we remember the least privileged in our world first to make sure they will benefit too, along with everyone else?  This is the litmus test for all people working for any company, and most of all of the leaders of this particular business organization, whether for-profit or not.  All of God’s creation must be considered first and foremost, and NOT the bottom line (profit).  Working for Ft. Madison, Iowa hospital, I too see that the main goal is not creating healthier people working for the corporation; it too is still about the bottom line, that’s why lowly Certified Nursing Assistants make a paltry and pathetic wage and health insurance plan.  FMCH doesn’t understand that work is holy either, but they are miniscule in the big picture.  The number one immoral  and unholy culprit in the world today is WAL-MART!!!  God forgive you….  Greenleaf concluded by saying the following about good business.  Greenleaf’s research concluded that the proper vocation of all business includes, but goes far beyond, financial health.  Corporation’s purpose involves the fostering of spiritual well-being.  Therefore, the highest calling of any organization designed for-profit or not is to see itself as a servant to society in developing people committed to serving others for the common good and love of all God’s creations, especially people.  Without these types of good business, we are doomed to perish as a growing and prosperous culture, as in Rome and many other places in the history of man’s quest for power, domination and greed.  Wal-Mart is the Roman Empire of today, and everything it stood for then and now.  Well, at least we know that Wal-Mart is heading down the same IMMORAL AND UNHOLY path of the Roman Empire.  But, that means we all collapse along with the mighty ugly Goliath (Wal-Mart).  God save us from our foolish and greedy ways!

In yet another study of business, which was published by Psychology Today magazine of research completed by The Center for Creative Leadership in Greensboro, North Carolina found out what top executives in business really expect of themselves and of their counter-parts in the business world on a scale of one to ten;

1.      Sensitivity towards others

2.      Personal warmth and availability for others

3.      Integrity

4.      Loyalty

5.      Superior overall business performance

6.      Ability to delegate

7.      Ability to build positive energy in staff relationships

8.      Ability to think strategically

9.      Ability to adapt

10.  Independence of spirit

“Only two of the attributes are what might be called “executive job skills” with direct application to success in business, numbers five and eight.  There is nothing here specifically about competence with budgets and balance sheets, nothing about marketing skills or predicting business trends or overseeing and adjusting profit margins.  Some of the attributes are more relational than others, but all represent spiritual, emotional, and intellectual skills in using the power for participation- this is, in a collaborative or looping mode as opposed to the use of power in a competitive top-down or linear mode,”  Leadership for the Third Millennium, by Bennett J. Sims.

What much of the research suggests is that free-market capitalism, rather than fair-market capitalism, as it has evolved into only money-hungry, profit-driven competitive consumerism, actually functions to separate leaders from the masses of people.  More than that, capitalism as consumerism separates all people from one another and from their own personal growth and spirituality.  Much research and spiritual reflection and powerful prayer indicates to expose free-market consumerism and materialism as the false god of today, as sinful and fallen away from God, as Christian’s new idolatry.  This is most likely why China, a communist and atheist country is so willing to jump on this new capitalism based on idolatry, rather than God’s natural laws of love of thy neighbor.  As it turns out, it’s not Communism which is evil, but free-market consumerism and materialism, which has replaced our one true God.  Especially here in the United States, shopping has replaced God, and move over God, because Satan has spread like a wildfire across the USA, but people are blinded by his friendly yellow smiling face, and today’s new idol over God is now the wicked WAL-MART in your own community, which continues destroying the delicate balance of business.

There does remain a small minority of people and businesses trying to appeal to a higher level of ethics and morality.  Clearly, business enterprises such as Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream in Vermont and Tom’s of Maine are nothing like Wal-Mart, and clearly have flourished.  These companies have designed and conducted their expressions of capitalism in ways that are congruent with the values that most human beings hold dear.  In both case they became resounding business successes as they turned their corporate energies in the direction of serving individuals and the public good.  Clearly these corporations as well as many others have turned away from consumer capitalism toward a more compassionate relationship with both people and the environment.  And, clearly Wal-Mart is a self-serving monster devouring everything good to mankind and most of all God.  Wal-Mart is a materialistic, consumer driven capitalistic and unbridled and out-of-control deviant moving people away from God.  The monolithic Wal-Mart Corporation clearly wants to destroy everyone and everything in its destructive path, like a Tsunami or hurricane that pummeled New Orleans to its knees.

“In all my years as a Catholic Christian, I’ve never heard a sermon on the TENTH COMMANDMENT of GOD.  We can’t possibly preach on Thou Shalt Not Covet Thy Neighbor’s Goods, because Western society is based on that.  It’s called CAPITALISM.  Mass advertising tells us we need things none of us really need.  It sows confusion about what’s important for life.  The level of need has moved to such a level of illusion and sophistication that what were once ultimate luxuries have become necessities.  In our culture, people cannot feel good about themselves unless next year’s vacation is more luxurious than last year’s. and watch out for Christmas, Jesus’ birth has turned into the most consumerist and materialistic holiday in the USA – while the majority of God’s children on this earth are literally starving to death.  The Christian Testament for all Christians says that true happiness is found in the simple things of life.  That is about as traditional, old-fashioned, and conservative a gospel as there is, and it will never change.  We Christians must begin following the Tenth Commandment,”  Excerpt from “Preparing for Christmas,” by Rev. Richard Rohr.  We have made Wal-Mart so big and so strong over the years by being great sinners, and ignoring the TENTH COMMANDMENT!!!  Can God forgive us, if we begin to             BOYCOTT WAL-MART  today and everyday?  Can we be forgiven if we follow Christ’s simple command to take care of the least of us today and everyday, starting today?  Silly Christians, giving a FREE Thanksgiving meal or giving cheap generic foods to the Food Pantry at Christmas won’t save your dying soul.  Giving your crumbs from your bountiful table, which your family and friends feast upon will not save you either.  Follow God’s Tenth Commandment and be saved!

“Throughout your daily business dealings, recall the face of the poorest and the weakest person whom you have seen, and ask yourself if the next step you contemplate is going to be of any use to that person.  Will that person gain anything by it?  Will it restore that person to a control over his or her own life and destiny?  In other words, will it lead to freedom for the hungry and spiritually starving millions?  Then, you will find your doubts and your self melting away,”  Mohandas Gandhi, a Hindu Saint.

Guess who is the world’s largest corporation, who produces nothing and imports everything?

WAL-MART!!!

“During the last 20 years, Wal-Mart has moved into communities and destroyed them, wiping out stores, slashing the tax base, and turning downtown areas into ghost-towns.  This is accomplished through Wal-Mart’s policy of paying workers below subsistence wages, and importing goods that have been produced under slave-labor conditions overseas.  Often, our communities will even give Wal-Mart tax incentives, for the right to be destroyed, and in turn the taxpayers of that community are paying higher taxes to have a Wal-Mart, and soon only a Wal-Mart,”  by Richard Freeman of the Executive Intelligence Review.

I honestly believe Wal-Mart to be the USA’s number one major foreign enemy, not Iran or North Korea, but really Wal-Mart.  The bizarre reality is that it is based right here on our soil, just like the immoral School of America’s.  Both are killing and destroying our people with the lowest of possible wages, helping communist country’s like China to get fat and sassy, and destroying all signs of true democracy, freedom and spirituality.  Where Wal-Mart struts, whole communities collapse!  It is the honest to God truth!  Wal-Mart does bring many communities the gifts of higher unemployment and very cheap labor; retirees and students fill the isles with bright shining smiles.  But, they do not have families to feed.  Wal-Mart pays its American workers sweat-shop wages, and enforces a worldwide system of concentration camp production plants, where many workers are literally kept as indentured servants.

“They fear us,” states Lee Scott, CEO of Wal-Mart in a documentary about the real face of Wal-Mart behind that yellow smiling face.  Mr. Scott, similar to another immoral leader, President George W. Bush said we’ll stay the course, because they fear us, whether that’s on the Iraqi battlefield or in the world of business and economics, it remains “voodoo capitalism”, as Former President George H. Bush said about President Ronald Reagan’s economics and war against the poor masses of people throughout the world.  Yes, Americans, the world fears us because we have leaders like Lee Scott and George Bush pushing all of us masses of people further and further into poverty, like the days of the railroad barons, coal barons and of course the still mighty oil barons of today.

When in one of the poorest countries in the world, Bangladesh forces its people to live or die, there is only one choice, make toy trucks that Wal-Mart buys for .18 cents, then charges Americans $4.97 for it.  Who made the most money here?  Not the manufacturer in Bangladesh and definitely not the Bangladeshi people who make pennies on the dollar every week, but Wal-Mart who neatly and tightly controls all economics.  There is no fair playing field, where once competition ruled, because the competition laid waste in the ghost towns of downtown businesses with For Sale or For Rent signs up on the windows.  This is unbridled consumerist-driven capitalism, or what the rich multi-millionaire Congress, White House, Media and Wall Street investors call Democracy, Freedom, and Free Capitalism, rather than Fair-Trade as designed by God’s plan for holy work.  The Rev. James Lawson, friend to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., said this about Wal-Mart’s idea of business, “it’s just plain and simple, PLANTATION CAPITALISM.  It is re-designed and re-packaged from the days of sheer, outright Christian hatred – SOUTHERN SLAVERY.  It started and is headquartered in the Southern State of Arkansas, where from the five richest people in the world, the Walton Family members are our masters, where we must jump when they say jump.  Dr. King would be 100% against this new form of economic slavery imposed by so-called filthy, rich White Christians again!!!  What’s new this time is that all the world’s minorities are slaves to Wal-Mart, it involves Latinos, and Asians mainly, but still includes African Americans.  What’s even more surprising is how easy it was to get white women, white retirees, and white students to become slaves to a “Plantation Corporation”.  The rich whites have even imprisoned their own race this time too – that is the funniest part of this immoral saga!

Wal-Mart treats human beings as pawns or animals in a complex game of winner takes all, and that would be the Walton Family, Wal-Mart investors and the U.S. Government, who should all be held for HIGH TREASON against the American people for whom this country belongs to, not George Bush, Bill Clinton, or Scott Lee, and absolutely not shareholders or the Walton Family, but to you and me.  They are the enemies, which we must love, but still defeat non-violently and peacefully with God.  We must take to the streets and revolt, a new, true revolution, where God is our idol, and not money!  I challenge every good American to consume less, to shop less, to desire less materialism and demand higher wages for all the masses of people around the world.  Demand Fair Trade!  BOYCOTT WAL-MART!!!  People in Southeast Iowa in the year 2006 will see me with my placard sign boycotting Wal-Mart all year.  This is the year to begin the REVOLUTION!!!  Christians and all Faiths unite against the immoral super-power, Boycott Wal-Mart…

WAL-MART:

  1. Pays Non-livable Wages!
  2. Lowers all Economic Standards!
  3. Creates Sweatshops Worldwide!
  4. Busts all hopes for a Union Wage!
  5. Destroys small Communities!
  6. Raises our Taxes!
  7. Pollutes the Environment!
  8. Receives Billions of $ in Government Subsidies!
  9. Promotes Welfare and Medicaid to its poor employees!
  10. Raises our Taxes!
  11. Discriminates Against Females!
  12. Hires Illegal Immigrants!

  14. Fires Employees who tell the TRUTH!
  15. Is an Illegal MONOPOLY!
  16. Making the Communist Chinese Government Stronger!
  17. Walton Family gives only 1% of wealth to Charity, while Bill Gates gives 58%!
  18. Pays Chinese Workers only $3.00 a Month!
  19. Is not Ethical, Moral, Christian – just pure evil!
  20. Raises Your Taxes, RAISES YOUR TAXES, Raises Your Taxes!!!

Just to set the record straight, I do not have a personal vendetta.  I neither have nor ever will work for Wal-Mart.  I have no family or friends who work for Wal-Mart.  I am just a poor Christian guy, who wants to educate and relay a message of truth to the American people and others around the world to the immoral actions of this Mega-Sinner, Wal-Mart.  Now, I want to reflect back on the opening quote to this article by Margaret J. Wheatley.  To receive a positive charge in life requires us to produce healthy and happy relationships.  Everyday in our holy work, we relate with others, we develop negative or positive relationships.  Wal-Mart has created unhealthy, unholy, criminal and highly negative relations with billions of people around the world and here at home in the USA.  In whatever our holy work is in life, we must find and pursue positive energy relationships, because they will grow and not destroy as Wal-Mart relationships do.  Wal-Mart relates through coercion and from a total disregard for other people – Wal-Mart creates negative energy.  Their mega-stores are Godless and loveless, and most of us know if we look deep into our hearts will admit that only love is the most potent source of power in the universe.  GOD BLESS THE WORLD!
